Hobart "Harmony Day" Activities

Harmony Day is the United Nation's International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. The message of Harmony Day is ‘Everyone Belongs’, everyone is part of our community and provides us with time and opportunity to reflect on where the country of Australia has come from, while acknowledging the traditional owners of the land.

The City of Hobart invites you, your family and friends to recognise Australia’s cultural diversity by joining the city's Harmony Day celebration. This FREE community event will take place on Saturday 21 March 2015 from 11am to 1.00pm on Parliament House Lawns, Hobart.

Performances at the 2015 Harmony Day event include Chicada Samba Band, Dance Bonito, Buddhist Lion Dance and lots more songs, traditional dance, arts and craft activities and more for all ages and cultural backgrounds.

Organisers of the annual event, the City of Hobart’s Networking for Harmony Group, encourage community participation, inclusiveness and respect. We hope to see you at this special harmony event.  The Hobart City Council is also interested in hearing from people who would like to perform traditional dance, songs, arts or crafts at the Harmony Day event. Expressions of interest are open until Friday 6 March.  Written by Sjann Field, Community Development Officer
