Our final meeting for 2014 will honor the years end and our time together with sacred music, reflection, readings, meditation, prayer and song.   Personal readings are most welcome.   Please bring any objects you may like to display on our Interfaith altar.

As part of Human Rights Week, this event will feature keynote speaker Fr Shammi Perera. Originally from Sri Lanka Fr. Shammi Perera is now the chaplain with responsibility for the pastoral care of migrants and refugees, based at St Mary's Cathedral, Hobart.

Fr Shammi Perera will speak about the treatment of strangers - including immigrants, asylum seekers and refugees, in faith traditions.  Time will also be spent sharing readings, prayers and meditations, for those forced to take refuge, including those who create and exacerbate conditions that force others to take refuge.

Interfaith Tasmania: Article - Community Dinner Unites Faiths in Common Values:

Sister Liz Walker of Deloraine Ward made history on Friday 14 November by hosting the community's first interfaith dinner to celebrate International Tolerance Day (16 November). Over 60 people from around the Meander Valley representing a broad range of faiths gathered at the Deloraine Primary School hall dressed in religious or cultural attire and bringing dishes reflective of their culture.

The tone of the evening was set by a special video presentation on religious freedom. In the spirit of that video's message it was inspiring to see Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus and others sharing tables, breaking bread together and mingling in a spirit of friendship and mutual respect.  a deeper state of consciousness, spiritual growth, evolution and well-being. 

This month we share our personal experiences and insights about specific 
teachings, scriptures or readings which have resonated and/or impacted our 
spiritual awareness, understanding and growth in some way.
